Barker shoes are one of the most stylish and elegant looking leather upper shoes. They are made of the highest quality leather with leather soles. Although they look pretty elegant and classy, brand new leather shoes sometimes creak. You can stop that squeaky sound so that people won’t hear you coming before they even see you.

You can have your shoes treated at a shoe repair store or fix the creaking problem yourself at home. There are some home remedies you can do to stop irritating leather squeaking sound on shoes. To do this at home, you may need the following things: baby powder, newspaper, super glue, saddle soap, cloth, cream shoe conditioner.

Take your shoes and inspect them inside to see if they are dry. Stuff your shoes with crumpled newspaper. Place your shoes under sunlight for a few hours. Leave your show outside overnight to let the shoes absorb moisture. Next morning, take the newspaper out and sprinkle the insides of your Barker shoes with corn starch or baby powder.

Rub in the powder inside your shoes with your hand. Remove the insole and rub it with powder too if they can be removed. Bend your shoes to let the powder work its way into the shoes. If the leather material is tight, you will hear it creak. Now, place some cream conditioner on the cloth and rub it on your shoes. Rub the noisy area with more conditioner and bend the shoes again.

If you shoes have a tongue, you can use the saddle soap to coat it. This tongue is usually the culprit that causes leather shoe noise like squeaking and creaking. Check the heels and soles of your Barker shoes. If they are loose and rub against the leather, apply some glue. Don’t wear your shoes for at least a day or overnight.

You can repeat the process a few times a week till the sound disappears. Apply and rub the cream leather conditioner on your clean shoes several times a week. Aside from stopping the creaking sound, the conditioner also softens the leather and makes your shoes more comfortable to wear.
